Copyright
We advise client for filing and prosecuting copyright applications, recording assignments and licensing agreements. We also working for preparing and forwarding cease and desist letters, representing client for settling cases such as right violation, infringement litigation, and cancellation proceedings before the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) and court.
The requirements to file a copyright application:
- Power of Attorney (no legalization required);
- Assignment of Right, in case of the applicant is not the author (no legalization required);
- Specimen of Work (number of specimen depending on the kind of work).
The procedure of copyright application in Indonesia based on Copyright Law No. 19 of 2002:
Upon filing a copyright application, the DGIP will conduct a formal examination for checking the completeness of administrative and physical requirements. The application will then enter into evaluation stage and the DGIP will issue the certificate of registration within 9 (nine) months at the latest. The time protection of a copyright registration depending on the kind of copyright object and the applicant.
